GRANDMASTER WILLIAM C.C. CHEN,
my Tai Chi Chuan Lineage Master and Teacher.  Here he demonstrates a technique on me during a workshop in Irvine, California.

PROFESSOR CHENG MAN CHING
Legendary Tai Chi Chuan Master and Healer was the man most responsible for introducing Tai Chi Chuan to America.  William C.C. Chen was his student and "houseboy" in China from the age of 17 through 25.  Legend has it that Cheng Man Ching, a Traditional Chinese Medical physician, saved the life of the ailing wife of Yang Cheng Fu - founder of the slow motion style of Yang Tai Chi Chuan most popular worldwide.  Following this, Yang Cheng Fu taught Cheng Man Ching the "internal" secrets of Tai Chi Chuan.

DR. YAN XIN, my Traditional Chinese
Qigong Lineage Master and Teacher.   A World-famous Qigong Healer & Researcher,  Dr. Yan was the "houseboy" to Master Hai Teng ~ last Abbot of the Shaolin Temple ~ from the age of 6 to 16 before leaving to go to medical school.  Dr. Yan is educated in both Eastern and Western Medicine, and is probably the most studied "High Level" Qigong Master in the world.  When I took this picture in Beijing, Dr. Yan had been called back to China from a 3 year exile to the United States to treat the then close-to-death Chinese premier Deng Zhou Ping.  Both Eastern and Western medical Doctors had given up on Deng's survival and enemies of Qigong brought Dr. Yan back to China in the hopes of discrediting him and Medical Qigong.  Instead, Dr. Yan was able to keep Premier Deng alive for another year and a half, essentially living off of Dr. Yan's bioenergy (Qi).  This precipitated the "legalization" of Qigong under the Chinese "Sports Authority" (with all its problems since), and changed the course of the World.

MASTER LI of Mianyang was one of
Dr. Yan Xin's close fellow senior students under great Shaolin Master Hai Teng, the last abbot of the Shaolin Temple.  For demonstrations, Master Li pushes loaded trucks across the street, no hands, using a spear -- point pressed to his throat and the other end pushing the bumper of the truck.

GRANDMASTER WONG JACK-MAN  initiated me into the five elements of Xing Yi Quan (Hsing-I), a sister art to Tai Chi Chuan, which I continue to study at the school he founded in San Francisco.  In the early 1960s Grandmaster Wong founded the San Francisco chapter of the Jing Mo (Ching Wu) Athletic Association, the first in the US, recently made famous in the Jet Li movie "Fearless".

YIM SHAN WU
(standing with sledgehammer) was Wong Jack-Man's Sifu in China.  KUO YU CHANG  (kneeling with block of cement on head) was, in turn, Yim Shan Wu's Sifu.

GESHE TSULTIM GYELTSEN is my
Vajrayana (Tibetan Buddhist) Teacher.  Geshela taught advanced classes at my Studio in Atwater Village in LA for about a year and a half after their Los Angeles monastery was rendered unusable for gatherings by the Northridge earthquake.  Here we see him with his boss, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.  Geshe Gyeltsen is the Co-Head Lama of the Gelupa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism that the Dalai Lama leads.

PETER RALSTON was my main
internal martial arts teacher in the 1980's.  The photo above is a bad copy of a bad snapshot taken when Master Ralston won the full contact gold  medal at the infrequently held World Championships in the Republic of China -- the first ever Westerner to achieve a Full Contact World Championship victory in such a competition in Asia.
