The Curriculum: TAI CHI SOLO FORMS

TAI CHI ( Taiji ) SOLO FORMS are dance like, choreographed "Sets" of shapes and movements which train and strengthen the body, mind and "Qi" ( Bioenergy ) in more effective ways to function and move about on planet Earth. The "Form" provides full range of motion training for the body in the context of Structurally Sound Grace and Power of Movement, Bio-Energy Cultivation and Effective Self Defense.

The YANG STYLE of TAI CHI CHUAN ( Taijiquan ) is the most popular style of tai chi ( taiji ) in the world. This is primarily due to its ease of learning and its health benefits as exercise. It is also a very powerful and effective method of training for self and other defense, although those who know how to train this aspect are rare.

At Pacific Light & Power - Internal Martial Arts, Yang Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan ) is trained for all its life extending benefits including strengthening the physical and energetic bodies, healing disabilities and disease, improving movement capability and for its usefullness in defending self and other against physical assault.

YANG CHENG FU, grandson of Yang Tai Chi Chuan founder Yang Lu Chan, originated the continuously slow motion style of Tai Chi Chuan in the late 1800's.

The 64 Movement Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Short Form trained at Pacific Light & Power is right and left balanced such that virtually all the movements are repeated to the left side as well as to the right without interfering with the flow of movement and energy.

The 64 Movement Tai Chi Short Form initially taught at Pacific Light & Power is derived from the "simplified" 42 Movement Short Form devised by Professor Cheng Man Ching for teaching Yang Tai Chi to the general public. In the 64 Movement Short Form virtually all of the postures and movements of the Yang Family Long Form (108 or 128 Movements) have been merged back while still limiting the number of repetitions.
